Taboo in saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia is a country located in the Asian continent. Saudi Arabia is a country that almost the entire population is moslem.

According to Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, taboo is something that is not acceptable to talk about or do.



There is some taboos in Saudi Arabia :

1   .      Talking about sex.

2  .   Taboo if a man married with a woman who is taller than him. According to Arab News, if a man married with a woman who is taller than him, he will receive social punishment like cynical comment from people, because they assume that woman need the protection from a man in an especially  physical protection. So, if a man taller than his wife, it means he is strong.  

3.     Woman who work outside the home is taboo. In many part of Saudi Arabia, it is believe that
woman’s place is in the home for caring her husband and family.  Some of woman who work only nurses and greengrocers who worked around the  Nabawi mosque.

4.      The left hand is considered unclean. In the Arabic culture, you must always use the right hand when touching, giving something, eating, or gesturing. So, doing something with left hand is taboo.

5.      There is little to no touching between males and females. ( unless they are blood related or married)

6.      Taboo for a woman driving  alone.

7.   The clothing that people wear can be seen as taboo, as  woman are expected to be reserved and conservative, with shoulders, legs, and other part of the body  covered. So, taboo for woman if wearing revealing clothes.
